The paper titled âGenetic and pharmacological targeting of activin receptor-like kinase 1 impairs tumor growth and angiogenesisâ was published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine in collaboration with researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. A second paper, titled âALK1-Fc Inhibits Multiple Mediators of Angiogenesis and Suppresses Tumor Growth,â was published in Molecular Cancer Therapeutics by researchers at Acceleron. In preclinical studies, ACE-041 inhibits blood vessel formation induced by multiple angiogenesis factors, including VEGF and FGF, even though ACE-041 does not bind to these molecules. ACE-031 is currently being studied in a Phase 1 clinical trial in healthy volunteers and ACE-041 is being studied in a Phase 1 clinical trial in patients with advanced cancer. The investors in Acceleron include Advanced Technology Ventures, Alkermes, Bessemer Ventures, Celgene, Flagship Ventures, MPM BioEquities, OrbiMed Advisors, Polaris Ventures, QVT Financial, Sutter Hill Ventures and Venrock. read more
