Canadians should not use certain Acai Berry products because they may contain an undeclared prescription medication for erectile dysfunction, Health Canada says. The products, advertised for anti-aging and weight loss, have been found to contain undeclared Sildenafil, a prescription drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, Health Canada said. People with heart problems are at increased risk of cardiovascular side-effects including heart attack, stroke, chest pain, high blood pressure and abnormal heart beat. The products are not authorized for sale in Canada but travellers may have brought it into the country or may have been bought online. Health Canada has not received any reports in Canada of adverse reactions associated with the use of these seven products. Drugs and natural health products that are authorized for sale in Canada carry an eight-digit number that indicates they have been assessed by Health Canada for safety, effectiveness and quality. read more
