GIANTS / Perseverance at Camp Panda / Fan favorite Sandoval goes. With a host of others, including Giants head trainer Dave Groeschner and strength and conditioning coordinator Ben Potenziano, infielder Pablo Sandoval climbed Phoenix’s Camelback Mountain on Thursday, 54 minutes up, 38 minutes down, and thought he was done for the day. All involved are reluctant to discuss specific weight totals, but Sandoval, who is 5 feet 11, said he lost about 12 pounds during the first 10 days of Camp Panda. Notwithstanding his pout after climbing Camelback (which he did 35 minutes faster than a previous effort), Sandoval has impressed the Giants training staff with his attitude during Camp Panda. After light stretching, Sandoval joined his 28-year-old brother Michael, a third baseman with minor-league experience, Potenziano and Giants minor-league trainer Geoff Head for a 45-minute ride on stationary Spinner bikes, which they moved to a balcony overlooking a ball field. read more
