It takes a lot to unnerve a Navy veteran, but when Bob Zach was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, the man who served his country for four years admits he was a little scared. Zach, a 1987 graduate of Tomball High School, began feeling muscle spasms in December and found out he had the incurable disease in January. Davis and Zach have been working together at Wayne Enterprises for 15 years, and Davis and other coworkers hope an upcoming benefit will help ease the family’s financial burden they are forced to face in addition to the battle of having a family member with a terminal disease. On July 11, at Juergens Park at Zion and Ulrich in Tomball, everyone is invited to see a hot rod and motorcycle display, listen to live music, buy raffle tickets for a Browning shotgun and big screen TV, participate in a silent auction for trips and prizes, and eat barbecue and chicken from noon to 5 p.
