Charles West’s home court in early January, the Warrenton girls basketball team matched the hosts in a 12-12 first quarter. West center Bri Baldwin finished with 17 points and six blocks and the hosts won the Gateway Athletic Conference North game 49-33. On Monday in the opening round of the Class 4 District 7 Tournament at West, the hosts weren’t in a good mood after losing their last three regular season games. Baldwin, who returned quickly after a mid-season injury, led all scorers with 11 points and West (17-10) ended Warrenton’s season 54-17. When senior Kelsey Luecke was lost with an injury 11 games into the season, Warrenton had to thrust sophomore Ashley Schroeder into a bigger role sooner that Woodruff would have liked. read more
