Personal trainer Michele Hannan attended the MVP Quest competition in Hamilton recently where she placed first in the masters fitness model competition and third in the open figure competition. Now, 12 competitions and endless training hours later, the 44 year old returned from the Ultimate Fitness Events (UFE) MVP Quest show in Hamilton recently with a first in the masters fitness model competition and a third in the open figure competition. The fitness category requires a physically active stage performance that often includes aerobics, dance or gymnastics routines while in the figure competition participants are judged solely on symmetry and tone. Add to that the hours of weight training, cardio conditioning and stage presentation practice and Hannan spends a minimum of 15 hours per week devoted to fitness competitions. The figure competition involves posing in a one-piece bathing suit, followed by a two-piece and avoids the physical exertion of the fitness component in the fitness category. read more
